Lady Gaga heads to outer space in video for “Stupid Love”

Welcome to the world of Chromatica.

Lady Gaga has welcomed a new era with her highly anticipated single, “Stupid Love.”

The anthemic disco-inspired song harks back to the pop star’s 2011 album, Born This Way, which featured similar retro-leaning tunes such as “Fashion of His Love.” “You’re the one that I’ve been waiting for / Gotta quit this cryin’, nobody’s gonna / Heal me if I don’t open the door / Kinda hard to believe, gotta have faith in me,” Gaga sings over the euphoric production of “Stupid Love.”

The accompanying video also marks Gaga’s return to her campy, over-the-top roots. In the intergalactic visual, she plays the leader of “the Kindness punks,” who are fighting for dominance over the planet of Chromatica. What follows is a full-on dance battle and a whole lot of impressive choreography.

“Chromatica” has also been rumored to be the title of Gaga’s forthcoming sixth studio album. The record will be the follow-up to 2016’s Joanne.

Last year, Gaga won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the song “Shallow” from the 2018 remake of A Star is Born, in which she co-starred alongside Bradley Cooper.
