Kyary Pamyu Pamyu drops trippy “Oto No Kuni” MV

Featuring plenty of colorful wigs.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s “Oto No Kuni,” a track off her recently released album, Japamyu, has received a whimsical music video treatment.

Directed by New York-based Japanese artist Fantasista Utamaro, the clip stars Kyary as different characters, decked out in vibrant wigs and colorful traditional Japanese costumes. At one point, the J-pop star even transforms into a virtual avatar. “I appear [as] many different forms,” Kyary wrote in a press statement. “It’s a video that’s [inspired by] a mandala, and also psychedelic. We put a lot of work into it.”

In addition to the video release, Kyary has also announced the details of her upcoming Japan tour where she’ll be making pit stops at locations with “significant cultural and historical importance.” The Oto No Kuni tour will kick off in late March at the Izumo-taisha Shrine in Shimane Prefecture, Matsue.
