Kelly Clarkson brought out her in-law and country superstar Reba McEntire during a recent concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for an epic medley of the latter’s hits.
“Literally, I’ve been waiting for weeks to do this. I’m super excited for my guest,” Clarkson told the audience. “I asked [Reba McEntire] because [she] has been such an influence, not just musically but personally. It’s a really rare thing to meet your hero and they live up to it. We put this together because I’m a true fan, so I’m making this person sing way more songs than they probably thought they would have to.”
Clarkson then proceeded to invite the queen of country out on stage, where they broke into a heartwarming rendition of the former’s “Because of You.” They then segued into “one of [Kelly’s] favorites,” the groovy ’80s song, “Can’t Even Get the Blues,” before launching into a powerful version of McEntire’s signature hit, “Fancy.”
They continued the medley with “Is There Life Out There,” before Clarkson handed the stage over to McEntire for a rendition of the latter’s latest single, “Freedom.” Clarkson sang backup for the country legend during her final song, which ended with rowdy applause from the crowd.
