Ke$ha weds same-sex couple in video for “I Need a Woman”

And it’s not just for show—the pop star actually marries a real-life lesbian couple in the clip.

Get those tissues ready, because Ke$ha’s latest video will move you to tears. In the clip for “I Need a Woman,” the pop star heads to Las Vegas to officiate the wedding of a lesbian couple. And, mind you, this all actually happened IRL.

The couple, Dani and Lindsay, is at the center of the video’s narrative. They’re on their way to Sin City to get hitched, and they’re lucky enough to have the “TiK ToK” hitmaker preside over the nuptials. As they get emotional describing their past experience of watching Ke$ha stand up to anti-LGBTQ protesters, the musician herself chimes in with her teary-eyed two cents.

And then the big day arrives. The song fades out, Dani and Lindsay read their vows, and Ke$ha ties everything up with a nonchalant, “Oh, here we go? I pronounce you married!” Cue party poppers, bubbly and all the makings of an unforgettable night out in Vegas.

If “I Need a Woman” sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The song is a reworked cover of Janis Joplin’s “I Need a Man to Love,” which will appear on Universal Love, out on April 21. It’s a compilation album featuring reinterpretations of iconic love songs, and stars the likes of St Vincent, Ben Gibbard and Bob Dylan.
