Julia Michaels has announced her debut album with the latest single, “All Your Exes.”
The song, which she co-wrote with her partner and fellow singer-songwriter JP Saxe, is about being “so obnoxiously in love that it’s actually painful to think about that person having been with anyone else.” “In the past I’ve definitely been a bitter lemon when it came to love, but all of that has changed,” she said in a press release. “Now that I’m in a healthy relationship I’ve redirected that angst from my ex to my current partner’s exes. I hope fans will appreciate the dark humor of the song.”
“All Your Exes” initially opens as a soft acoustic ballad before it transforms into a high-energy guitar-pop banger as she declares, “I wanna live in a world where all your exes are dead / I wanna kill all the memories that you save in your head.”
The new single is expected to appear on Michaels’ debut studio album, A Picture From the Future, alongside the previously released “Sometimes” and “Lie Like This.” The album will be the follow-up to her 2019 project Inner Monologue Part 2.
