Julia Michaels has just released the music video to “Jump,” her dance pop collaboration with rapper-singer Trippie Redd.
It’s a gloomy and smoky visual bathed in red and purple light, that follows the pair of rising musicians dancing, singing and jumping on top of cars as they film themselves on retro camcorders. The song is set to appear on the Michael’s highly anticipated debut LP, which is due out later this year.
In an interview with Billboard, the singer-songwriter stated that the track was inspired by heartbreak. “I wrote ‘Jump’ about wanting to be in love with somebody after getting your heart just completely pummeled. And that’s so hard for people sometimes, especially for me, so I wanted to write about it and put it out in the universe.”
