“Call Anytime,” the debut solo single from Jinu of South Korean boyband Winner, is out now.
Featuring groovy guitars and finger snaps, the song pairs a light-hearted melody with melancholic lyrics about unrequited love. “It’s 3am in the morning / You don’t respond to my messages / We’re not really dating / But I just thought of you,” Jinu croons on the opening. The track is co-written by fellow bandmate Mino, who also lends his vocals to the infectious pop production.
“Going solo is still somewhat awkward for me,” Jinu—real name Kim Jinwoo—told Yonhap News Agency. “[A solo interview] like this one today is a little overwhelming for me.” However, the singer added that his first-ever solo record showcases “a major explosion of [his] confidence.”
The song was released alongside a vibrant music video, which enters the mind of a restless, lovelorn Jinu. In the clip, the singer spends his time waiting next to a telephone all night, yearning for his crush to call him back. Check out the video for “Call Anytime” below:
