Jessi returns with fierce new song, “What Type of X”

“I am a woman of strong mentality and for me, loving myself is the most crucial thing.”

Jessi has returned with her new single, “What Type of X.”

The fierce pop rock song dropped alongside a glamorous music video that features the American-Korean musician on a chess-inspired set. “(Yeah) I’m different and it’s not a crime / (Yeah) Only God can judge me, you don’t live my life / (Oh oh) I ain’t got to be the one / be the one just for you,” she sings.

During a recent press conference for the song’s release, Jessi noted that “the most crucial thing” for her is self-love and how important it was for ‘What Type Of X’ to reflect that, per NME.

“I am a woman of strong mentality and for me, loving myself is the most crucial thing. If you do not love yourself, nobody will do so. On top of that, you have to be surrounded by people who give off positive vibes,” she said. “Through the song, I want to tell people to be more confident and hope they remember that being different is not wrong.”
