Itzy exude confidence in video for their new single, “Wannabe”

Their sophomore EP, ‘It’z Me,’ is out now.

K-pop girl group Itzy have dropped a lively video for their sassy new song, “Wannabe.”

For the house-influenced anthem, the girl group reunited with producer Galactika, who also produced their successful debut song, “Dalla Dalla.” On the new track, the South Korean idols preach self-love to their young fans: “I don’t have to be anything because / I’m perfect when I’m myself / I wanna be me, me, me.”

Similarly, the accompanying video features the five-member group embracing their individuality in a myriad of settings, including the runway of a fashion show, a crowded club and a grand dining room.

“[Galactika] told us he got inspired by the conversation we had when he recorded ‘Dalla Dalla,’” Lia told Maeil Business News of the new song, as translated by Soompi. “He asked what kind of singers we wanted to become and who our role models are. We said we just wanted to be ourselves, and he said our reply left a deep impression on him.”

“Wannabe” is the lead single from Itzy’s sophomore EP, It’z Me. The project is the follow-up to last year’s It’z Icy, which featured the song “Icy.”
