Leave it to stans to uncover what seems to be a secret message in Ariana Grande’s new album, Sweetener. The song in question? Fan favorite “Breathin.”

Fans have discovered that when the track’s intro is played in reverse, a deep, male voice can be heard saying, “Tonight is your special night, do something magical.” They’re convinced the soundbite is from the pop star’s grandfather, who passed away in 2014.

Ariana’s grandfather was extremely dear to her, as she revealed to The Fader earlier this year: “He was the person I was closest to in my life. He was everything I wanted to be: as a businessman, as a gentleman, as a human being, as a friend, everything. He was just perfect to me.”

The discovery adds another dimension to the track, which centers on Ari’s ongoing struggles with anxiety and panic attacks in the wake of the terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester, in 2017.

If it is indeed Grandpa Grande we hear, it just goes to show how clever an artist his granddaughter is—and how many layers there are to Sweetener.
