It’s been five years since she released an album, but Avril Lavigne might be breaking her silence very soon. That’s what fans have been speculating since a few days ago, when the “Complicated” hitmaker tweeted a photo of her in a recording booth.

The black-and-white photo depicted the pop punk princess behind the mic in her home studio. “Late-night studio vocal session,” the caption read, and fans everywhere took this to mean that a new record is in the works. If indeed true, this would be Lavigne’s sixth full-length effort—and the first after being diagnosed with Lyme Disease, in 2015.

However, this isn’t the first time the 33-year-old has hinted at a release. In 2017, Lavigne told fans that she planned on dropping an album that year. After that didn’t materialize, she again brought up the topic on social media in January this year. “Personal, dear, intimate, dramatic, raw, powerful, strong and unexpected,” she described the album. “This record is a true emotional journey.”
