Hear Hailee Steinfeld’s new single, “Afterlife (Dickinson)”

The song soundtracks the forthcoming Apple TV+ series, ‘Dickinson.’

Hailee Steinfeld has released “Afterlife (Dickinson),” from the upcoming Apple TV+ series, Dickinson. The singer-actress stars in the web drama as Emily Dickinson.

The synth pop song was co-written by the singer with Kennedi Lykea, KOZ and hit-making production duo Stargate. The track draws lyrical inspiration from the works of Emily Dickinson and “has become one of my favorite songs I’ve worked on and sonically,” Steinfeld said in a statement.

“It’s indicative of the direction I’m exploring with my new music,” she added. “There’s a line in the song that says ‘immortality is bliss’ and it’s reminiscent of a lot of [Dickinson’s] poems. She lived during a time where women were forbidden from voicing their opinions and restricted in many ways, including how they dressed.”
