Hear another Charli XCX song made in isolation, “Claws”

Produced by Dylan Brady of 100 gecs.

Charli XCX has released another new song, “Claws,” recorded from pandemic-induced self-isolation.

Like its predecessor “Forever,” the new track is a breathless declaration of love. “I like everything about you,” Charli sings on the choppy chorus, later asking for reciprocation: “So, don’t you want me back? ’Cause I know, when I know, I don’t wanna be alone.”

“Claws” soars to an explosive, chaotic conclusion. The song was produced by Dylan Brady of the experimental pop duo 100 gecs, with whom Charli recently collaborated on a remix of their song “Ringtone” alongside Rico Nasty and Kero Kero Bonito.

“Claws” and “Forever” will appear on the British pop star’s ‘quarantine album,’ How I’m Feeling Now, arriving on May 15.

The record is marked by a uniquely collaborative and transparent recording process, with Charli documenting its creation with behind-the-scenes clips on social media, asking fans to vote on official artwork and even inviting fans into her songwriting sessions via Zoom conferences.
