Harry Styles debuts “Watermelon Sugar” on ‘SNL’

He also performed “Lights Up.”

Harry Styles recently hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live, where he also performed two songs from his forthcoming sophomore album, Fine Line: “Lights Up” and the new track “Watermelon Sugar.”

The former One Direction member opened his set with a choir-backed rendition of “Lights Up,” which he released last month. “All the lights couldn’t put out the dark / Runnin’ through my heart / Lights up and they know who you are, know who you are / Do you know who you are?” he sang.

He returned later in the night to debut the joyous “Watermelon Sugar.” Dressed in a bright red suit, Styles danced to the funky, trumpet-heavy track while delivering strong vocals: “Breathe me in, breathe me out / I don’t know if I could ever go without / I’m just thinking out loud / I don’t know if I could ever go without / Watermelon sugar high.”

Style’s sophomore album, Fine Line, is due out December 13 via Erskine/Columbia Records. He is the latest singer to perform on SNL following Coldplay, Chance the Rapper and Camila Cabello.
