Halsey’s “Without Me” video is raw and real

Art imitates life.

Halsey’s latest single “Without Me” is shaping up to be one of the biggest hits of her career, and it’s not hard to see why: The downtempo track is a raw, real glimpse into her relationship with rapper G-Eazy. And its freshly released video only gets even more personal.

Featuring a male love interest (who looks suspiciously like Halsey’s real-life bae), the visual chronicles the highs and major lows of a passionate but toxic relationship. It’s hard to say how much is fiction and how much fact, but you’ve got to give credit to the singer-songwriter for being brave enough to share such a personal side of her life.

“It’s just me, you know. No wig, no colorful hair, no character,” Halsey told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “It’s about my life and about my relationship that the world has watched so closely and so vehemently in the past year and a half.”
