Hallelujah! Madonna covers a Leonard Cohen classic at the 2018 Met Gala

Consider your ears #blessed.

From A-list actors to supermodels to music artists, the who’s who in Hollywood all arrived in New York City last Sunday to attend the annual Met Gala. Themed “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” this year’s glitzy fundraising soirée saw stars parade down the red carpet presenting their best Biblical togs—and, of course, Madonna (err, the Mother Mary of pop music we mean) made an appearance.

And who else would make a better musical guest at the event than the singer herself? The American pop star surprised guests with a faithful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and delivered a dramatic gospel version of her song “Like a Prayer,” where she’s backed by a choir of hooded monks. We’re not gonna lie, though, we’ve got goosebumps.

Watch snippets of her angelic performance below.
