Grimes wants fans to complete her new ‘Miss Anthropocene’ MV

Help finish the pop star’s visual for “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around.”

Grimes is asking fans and video creators alike to help her finish the music video for “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around.”

On Wednesday, the Canadian pop star born Claire Boucher released a clip of herself in full warrior princess gear, lip-syncing to the song in front of a green screen. In the YouTube’s description, she explained that the visual was meant to be incomplete because she wanted fans to collaborate with her and create their own versions of the music video.

“Because we’re all in lockdown, we thought if people are bored and wanna learn new things, we could release the raw components of one of these for anyone who wants to try making stuff using our footage,” Grimes wrote.

She also shared a WeTransfer download link containing the unedited green screen footage and audio stems of the song. “We were inspired by all the amazing art that gets sent our way, so [we’re] hoping some of these things are of use when the days are long and lonely,” she added.

Video editors can share their final product with the Twitter hashtag #grimesartkit, and Grimes will select her favorites and share them on her social media.

“You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around” is a cut off Grimes’ latest album Miss Anthropocene. The record, which arrived in February, also includes the tracks “IDORU,” “Delete Forever” and “My Name is Dark (Art Mix).”
