Foxes returns with emotional new single, “Woman”

A gorgeous and empowering piano ballad.

British singer Foxes—real name Louisa Rose Allen—has shared her second single of the year, “Woman.”

In a press statement, Foxes said her new song is about empowering other women to stand up to injustice. “There’s a lot of injustices in the world right now and I hope this single can be interpreted by any woman, in any situation, facing injustice, facing any situation that they know is wrong, and helps to stand up and say no to what isn’t right,” she said.

The gorgeous piano ballad dropped alongside a colorful animated video directed by Gemma Green-Hope. The clip follows a faceless character, who eventually finds the strength and voice to take down their bullies before floating away to a happier and brighter place. “I wanna see the walls / Come down / If everybody breathes / Then I know / That I’m a person / I’m human / I’m a woman,” Foxes belts on the chorus.

“Woman” follows Foxes’ May single, “Love Not Loving You.” The songs mark the singer’s return from a three-year hiatus. Her last album, All I Need, dropped in 2016. Foxes is best known for her 2012 hit song with Zedd, “Clarity.”
