Florence and the Machine grace the ‘Tiny Desk’

A wonderfully uplifting performance.

The latest guest to take NPR’s Tiny Desk is Florence and the Machine, whose three-song set arrived online yesterday.

Usually a dramatic, freewheeling performer on a big stage, Florence Welch openly and endearingly admitted her nerves to the audience assembled in NPR Music’s offices. She led her bandmates—including a harpist—in simple yet no less moving renditions of “June” and “Patricia” from her latest album High as Hope, before finishing with the anthemic “Ship to Wreck” from 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
