Ellie Goulding wants to be “Sixteen” again

Don’t we all?

Ellie Goulding has dropped a new single, “Sixteen,” a homage to her teenage years.

The dance pop song features muffled guitar instrumentation and a soaring pre-chorus that buffers into a sentimental chorus. The British also singer draws on nostalgia for the tune, name-dropping throwback instant messaging app, MSN Messenger, and reminiscing on other relatable moments from her teenage years.

“That age was such a pivotal year for me in many ways and this song is so close to my heart,” Goulding said in a press release. “It takes me back to the reckless days of being a teenager and I hope it reminds us all about the innocence of youth.”
