Ellie Goulding returns with new single, “Close to Me”

Assisted by Diplo and Swae Lee.

British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding is back with a brand-new bop called “Close to Me,” produced by Diplo and featuring Rae Sremmurd rapper Swae Lee. Together, they help the “Love Me Like You Do” hitmaker give her pop sound a hip hop twist.

The track kicks open with a cruisy acoustic strum as Goulding sings in her unmistakable voice, “Even though we know that we’re both liars / And we start each other’s fires / We both know that we’ll be alright.”

At the chorus, her voice soars. “I don’t want to be somebody without your body / Close to me” is an instant hook that’ll be stuck in your head from the first listen. Swae Lee’s verse is a great match for the vibe of the track, which has Diplo’s production magic all over it.

It’s been three years since Goulding’s last album, Delirium. If “Close to Me” is any indication, her new LP will be worth the wait.
