Ellie Goulding, Juice WRLD link up for “Hate Me”

An anti-love summer anthem.

Ellie Goulding has linked up with Juice WRLD on the playful, tongue-in-cheek single, “Hate Me.”

The British pop singer reflects on a disastrous relationship that she just can’t let go of: “I bet you don’t kiss her with your eyes closed / I bet you’re still walkin’ on a tightrope / Miss me so much, you’ve been goin’ psycho / You ain’t gotta say it, baby, I know.”

Juice gets introspective on his verse while playing up his sad-boy persona, accusing a partner of playing “mind games” and “damaging his brain.”

“The truth of the matter is that humans are crazy and do fucked up things to people, and that’s the truth,” Goulding told Zane Lowe of Beats 1. “I realized that I can always try and wear these rose-tinted glasses when it comes to my own past relationships or my friends’ relationships, but actually when it comes down to it some things are just really messed up. Sometimes I think you need to hear that.”

“Hate Me” is the latest in a string of singles from Goulding, including “Sixteen” and “Flux.” On the other hand, Juice released his sophomore LP Death Race for Love in March.
