Dua Lipa continues to tease her sophomore album with “Future Nostalgia,” the title track of the forthcoming record.
The singer gets sassy on the anthemic track, where she calls herself a “female Alpha.” The song also features a catchy chorus that draws from disco and ’80s funk: “I know you’re dying trying to figure me out / My name’s on the tip of your tongue, keep running your mouth / You want the recipe, but can’t handle my sound / My sound, my sound (Future, future nostalgia).”
“‘Future Nostalgia’ is my album title track and is a little something to tie you over ’til the New Year”’ Lipa said in a statement. “I wrote this one with Jeff Bhasker and Clarence Coffee Jr one afternoon in Los Angeles. It’s all playful and fun and not taking ourselves too seriously but we loved it so much we wanted to share it with you.”
“Future Nostalgia” is the second preview of Lipa’s much-anticipated sophomore album, following “Don’t Start Now.” The record is due out sometime in 2020. Earlier this year, she released “Swan Song” for the soundtrack of the sci-fi film Alita: Battle Angel.
