Dua Lipa, Diplo, Mark Ronson come together for “Electricity”

The pop star collabs with Diplo and Ronson’s production duo, Silk City.

Dua Lipa, Diplo and Mark Ronson have released a late contender for the title of this year’s song of the summer: “Electricity.”

The collaboration between the English pop star and the producers, who have dubbed themselves Silk City, was released last Friday with an accompanying music video featuring Lipa dancing ecstatically in a warehouse party. If you love the choreography of Sia and Teyana Taylor, this is a must-watch.

The single, which was co-written by Romy Madley Croft of The xx, was made in the tradition of “spiritual piano house music,” Ronson told The Times in an interview.

Lipa, he said, “has this deep, soulful voice that harkens back to gospel house.” The lyrics are appropriately transcendent: “This love has no ceiling, I cannot deny,” she exults.

“Electricity” is the fourth song Diplo and Ronson have released as Silk City. It comes after “Loud” featuring GoldLink and Desiigner, “Feel About You” featuring Mapei, and “Only Can Get Better” featuring Daniel Merriweather.
