BTS’ Jimin surprises with inspiring solo song, “Promise”

“Everyone, you’ve waited a long time, right?” the K-pop star tweeted.

After months of teasing, Jimin of K-pop boyband BTS finally surprised fans with his first self-composed solo song “Promise.”

The track—mostly sung in Korean—is co-written by fellow member RM and composed by Jimin with the help of frequent collaborator Slow Rabbit, who also assisted with the song’s arrangement. Over a gentle acoustic guitar strumming, the Hallyu star croons about self-love and asks his fans to do have the confidence to do the same: “Now promise me, oh oh / Several times a day, oh oh / Even if you feel like you’re all alone, oh oh / Don’t leave yourself, oh oh.”

“I finally shared my own song with the public,” Jimin wrote in a tweet. “This is a song for me, as it is a song for you. Though I may be a bit lacking because it’s my first, please listen to it. Thank you to all ARMYs who waited.”
