“Mood Ring,” a previously unreleased Britney Spears song, has finally been made available on streaming services.
The song was initially only released in Japan as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Spears’ 2016 album, Glory. Produced by Mustard and co-written by Melanie Fontana and Jon Asher, “Mood Ring” features Spears singing over an alluring, R&B-influenced beat.
“My love is a mood ring / Up and down emotions, all these mood swings / You know how to read the touch of my skin / Nothing on my body but this mood ring / You change me, yeah,” she gushes on the chorus.
“Mood Ring” accompanied the special re-release of Glory, which included all-new cover art. For the new edition, Spears trades the previous dreamy artwork for something more risqué, the pop star posing in a slinky gold bikini on the cover.
Spears hasn’t released any new music since Glory, but the album recently returned to the top of the iTunes chart. “You asked for a new Glory cover and since it went to number one we had to make it happen !!!! Couldn’t have done it without you all,” the singer wrote earlier this month.
