Billie Eilish, Finneas cover a Beatles classic at the 2020 Oscars

A touching cover of “Yesterday” in memory of those we’ve lost.

At the recent 2020 Oscars on Saturday, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas performed a cover of The Beatles’ 1965 hit “Yesterday” for the In Memoriam segment of the awards show.

The duo transformed the song into a somber ballad, with Eilish cooing softy over tender piano chords plays by Finneas. “Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away / Now, it looks as though they’re here to stay / Oh, I believe in yesterday,” she sang. They were later joined by a dramatic string orchestra.

The In Memoriam segment paid tribute to celebrities and important figures in the entertainment industry who passed away in the past year. They include Golden Age Hollywood actress Doris Day, producer and basketballer Kobe Bryant, actor Kirk Douglas and more.

Last month, Eilish was announced as the latest, and youngest, musician to write and record a theme song for the film series James Bond. She previously teamed up with Alicia Keys on a duet of her 2015 song, “Ocean Eyes.”
