Billie Eilish has just released a new single, “Wish You Were Gay,” from her forthcoming debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The full-length is due out at the end of the month.
On the track, Eilish sings about being romantically rebuffed by someone and wishing that rejection had come from incompatible sexual orientations instead of the other party’s disinterest. In a video accompanying the song’s release, the 17-year-old explains the song title: “I wish you were gay to spare my pride, to give your lack of interest in me an explanation.”
Eilish also announced that she has made a portion of proceeds from her Blohsh apparel line to be donated to The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide and crisis prevention program for LGBTQ youth.
