Billie Eilish takes aim at people who abuse their authority on her new single “Your Power,” from her upcoming sophomore album Happier Than Ever.
The third single from the upcoming record, “Your Power” paces further away from the nightmarish electronic soundscapes of her 2019 debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. “Your Power” is an acoustic ballad that emphasizes the emotional content of Eilish’s lyrics, which describe a person abusing their power with no remorse.
“This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written,” Eilish said on Instagram. “I feel very vulnerable putting this one out because I hold it so close to my heart. this is about many different situations that we’ve all either witnessed or experienced. I hope this can inspire change. Try not to abuse your power.”
Eilish directed the music video for “Your Power.” Hidden behind rolling arid hills, the pop star sings the track as a massive snake slowly coils around her body—an unsettling visual that only bolsters the song’s message.
