Beyoncé documents Beychella in upcoming film, ‘Homecoming’

The Netflix release will reveal the “emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

It’s official: Homecoming, a film by Beyoncé documenting her historic 2018 Coachella performance, will be released on Netflix come April 17.

Netflix first teased the film with a cryptic tweet that sent the Beyhive into a frenzy, then dropped an epic two-minute trailer for the upcoming documentary. Billed as “a film by Beyoncé,” the documentary will be an “intimate, in-depth look at Beyoncé’s celebrated 2018 Coachella performance… from creative concept to cultural movement,” according to the clip’s YouTube description.

The trailer lays audio from a 2013 Maya Angelou interview is laid over behind-the-scenes footage of stage rehearsals and dance practice in the days and weeks before the celebrated performance. “What I really want to do is be a representative of my race, of the human race,” says Angelou.
