Bea Miller has released a video for “It’s Not U it’s Me,” her jaunty single featuring 6LACK.
The clip transports the former X Factor finalist to a retro-inspired setting, complete with old LaserDiscs, boxy cathode-ray tube televisions and corded landlines. The singer spends most of her time in the visual alone, learning how to love herself without the need for a companion. 6LACK makes a brief appearance, too, as a guardian angel of sorts.
“I wanted this video to represent that learning to respect and prioritize yourself comes through trial and error, but also that in order to do that you can’t take yourself too seriously,” Miller said in a press release. “It’s difficult not to be self-critical if you can’t laugh at your mistakes, which is why this video is so playful while also hopefully still getting the point of the lyrics across.”
