Bazzi, Camila Cabello reenact ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in “Beautiful” MV

Shakespeare’s classic with a twist.

Bazzi has teamed up with Camila Cabello once again, this time to deliver the visual for their latest collaboration, “Beautiful.”

Directed by Jason Koenig, the dreamy video is a modern interpretation of Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, but with a surprise ending (spoiler: no one dies). Set in New Orleans’ French Quarter, the clip opens at a glitzy, 1940s-inspired party, which Bazzi attends. There, he catches the eye of a mysterious woman (played by Cabello) who’s dressed like the “beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful angel” he croons about on the song’s chorus.

After several failed attempts to meet, Bazzi and Cabello finally come together in the final scene. But the romance doesn’t last long: At midnight, their fairy tale affair unexpectedly ends on a bittersweet note.

In an interview with MTV, Bazzi claimed that the music video is one of his favorites so far. “It might rank as number one,” he said. “Everything looked so amazing and so clean and pristine. It felt so iconic.”
