Ava Max has dropped a comic book-inspired video for her latest single, “Torn.”
The clip opens on a brunette Max going through relationship troubles with her husband, whom she suspects of cheating. She pulls out a tome of magical spells while her man is away and casts a spell, transforming herself into a superhero with the singer’s trademark asymmetrical blonde hairstyle.
Max heads out into the world to fight the good fight, but her husband soon discovers her secret identity. He lures her to the roof of a skyscraper, where he reveals himself to be a supervillain and tosses her down the building. But Max survives the fall and returns to enact revenge.
The visual was shot on location in Milan and directed by frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Joseph Kahn. “Shooting the ‘Torn’ music video was a dream come true,” Max said in a press release. “I got to travel all over Milan as a superhero confronting my cheating husband. I want women to know all around the world that they have the power.”
“Torn” is the latest release from the rising pop star, who previously dropped “Freaking Me Out” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” She also recently teamed up with K-pop boyband NCT 127 on a remix of her song “So Am I.”
