Here’s Ariana Grande’s 2019 life motto: Rake in the checks, drink more champagne and live life frivolously. Because as her latest single “7 Rings” proves, sometimes joy can only be found in expensive things.
The song, which reimagines The Sound of Music’s “My Favorite Things,” puts a luxurious spin on the heartwarming show tune. Forget cream-colored ponies and apple strudels, Ari’s more fond of diamonds, shopping sprees and breakfasts at Tiffany’s. “They say, ‘Which one?’ I say, ‘Nah, I want all of ’em,’” she croons. “Happiness is the same price as red-bottoms.”
“7 Rings” is also one of Grande’s more hip hop-leaning songs in her R&B/pop catalog. At one point, the singer even flexes her rap skills with a fiery, braggadocious verse. “When you see them racks, they stacked up like my ass, yeah / Shoot, go from the store to the booth,” she spits.
“7 Rings” is her third post-Sweetener single. It arrived alongside a pink-hued visual all about Ari and her BFFs. The song will appear on the singer’s impending fifth album, alongside “Imagine” and its title track, “Thank U, Next.”
