2 Chainz jumps on Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings”

Just like that, the pop star nips a potential feud in the bud.

Days after the release of Ariana Grande’s latest single, “7 Rings,” the internet began to speculate that the song was really a ripoff—of a Princess Nokia song, of Soulja Boy’s flow, and of a 2 Chainz promotional gimmick. But Grande has put paid to that talk with a remix that features one of those artists: 2 Chainz.

“Made a new friend,” the pop star declared on Instagram, where she unveiled the remix’s cover art: a pink house similar to both the candy-colored setting of the “7 Rings” video and the ‘trap house’ 2 Chainz used to promote his 2017 album, Pretty Girls Like Trap Music.

For the remix, Grande cedes the second verse to Tity Boi, who boasts about what a great, wealthy catch he is and even sneaks in a “Thank U, Next” reference: “I’m well respected so she feel protected / So scratch all the exes, it’s next like contestants.”
