Los Angeles power metal band Witherfall have shared new single “The Last Scar,” the first track from their upcoming album Curse of Autumn.
Witherfall draw upon the grandeur of opera and ’80s hair metal in their new single, with vocalist Joseph Michael’s high-flying vocal melodies competing ably with the band’s signature frantic guitar flurries and thunderous percussion.
“This is a nice and happy one,” the band noted in a statement. “It’s heavily inspired by an evening on tour in the Czech Republic. It’s possibly one of the most aggressive Witherfall songs and certainly a test of stamina for instrumentalists and voices.”
It has been just over two years since Witherfall treated fans to their sophomore studio album A Prelude to Sorrow. The group enlisted Iced Earth songwriter Jon Schaffer to serve as their producer on the new record.
Curse of Autumn is slated for a March 2021 release via Century Media. Listen to “The Last Scar” here:
