Watch Matt Heafy cover Avenged Sevenfold’s “Unholy Confessions”

It’s a Matt-ception.

Matt Heafy is back at it again with yet another cover. Following Toto’s “Africa,” Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go on” and NSYNC’s “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” the Trivium frontman has now shared his take on Avenged Sevenfold’s 2014 track, “Unholy Confessions.”

It’s a stripped-down version—so don’t expect any crazy guitar shredding or Heafy emulating M Shadow’s howling. The metalhead does, however, show off his wicked picking skills on the acoustic.

The cover isn’t the most impressive one we’ve seen by far, but it has definitely made some fans giddy at the metal crossover. Who knows, maybe this could spark a possible collaboration between A7X and Trivium down the road.

Heafy and his band are currently gearing up for a fall tour across North America with Avatar and Light the Torch. The outfit plan to hit up 25 cities, including Seattle, Cleveland and Baltimore, from October through November.
