Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie covered the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” during their joint New Year’s Eve performance at Ozzfest in Los Angeles.
The cover, which the pair of rockers released officially last summer, is a “heavier, weirder and more groove-oriented” take on the Fab Four’s 1968 classic, as Zombie told Rolling Stone in July. Similar to the studio version, the live performance of “Helter Skelter” was, unsurprisingly, downright chaotic: Manson and Zombie wreak havoc on stage while delivering their signature howling. And as a surprise, the duo even brought out Motley Crue’s bassist Nikki Sixx to perform alongside with them.
“We had been talking about doing something together for these shows––that [Manson] should come onstage during my set and we’d do a song. But we couldn’t think of what song,” Zombie revealed to RS. “After we talked, later that night I was home and I just thought, the obvious song is ‘Helter Skelter’… It’s so obvious that neither one of us thought of it!”
