The Well turn doomsayers on “This is How the World Ends”

From their third full-length, ‘Death and Consolation,’ out later this month.

Texas band The Well have released “This is How the World Ends,” another glimpse of their forthcoming record, Death and Consolation.

The track opens with meaty, fuzzed-out licks—and the hooting of what sounds like a monkey. Vocalist-guitarist Ian Graham enters to paint a dystopian picture: “This is how the world is, drowning now in flames / This is how the world is, nightmare of the sane,” he intones on the chorus.

“This one is a little more personal,” Graham said in a statement. “2018 was a strange, dark year. A lot of change going on in my life, there was a lot of depression and coming out of it over the last year. I wanted to call this [album] Death and Consolation, because in life that’s a constant.”
