System of a Down share video for “Genocidal Humanoidz”

Premiered during a charity livestream.

System of a Down have shared the video for their comeback single “Genocidal Humanoidz.”

Co-directed by bassist Shavo Odadjian and Adam Mason, the visual juxtaposes intense cuts of a live performance with a monochromatic animation about a boy fighting off shadowy demons who have invaded his war-torn homeland.

The clip was premiered at the end of a charity livestream hosted on the group’s official YouTube channel. The livestream was an effort to raise funds for Armenian soldiers who have been wounded during the country’s recent conflict with Azerbaijan.

“Genocidal Humanoidz” was released alongside “Protect the Land” back in November. Both songs marked the band’s first original material in 15 years. The tracks were released to raise awareness of the aforementioned political conflict in Armenia.

Earlier this year, frontman Serj Tankian linked up with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello to cover Gang of Four’s “Natural’s Not in it” for an upcoming tribute album to late guitarist Andy Gill.
