Atlanta hard rock outfit Sevendust have released their 13th studio album, Blood & Stone.
The Atlanta rockers reunited with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, who worked on their previous album, 2018’s All I See is War. The 13-track record closes with a cover of Soundgarden’s massive Superunknown track “The Day I Tried to Live,” on which Sevendust pay tribute to late frontman Christ Cornell.
“It’s Chris Cornell, and we didn’t take that lightly,” guitarist John Connolly told American Songwriter. “If you’re going to cover Chris Cornell, it’s almost like covering Queen, you have to do it right and respectfully, while also putting your stamp on it.”
The idea to cover “The Day I Tried to Live” came from producer Baskette, who suggested the song when the band was unsure where to go with Blood & Stone. Stream the cover and the rest of the album below:
