Last Friday, Nita Strauss (also known as the guitarist for Alice Cooper) dropped her highly anticipated debut album, Controlled Chaos, along with a video for “Mariana Trench.”
The concept for the visual is simple: Strauss, in a black leather outfit, stands under a spotlight to show off her shredding skills while her drummer backs her up. And to make things even more dramatic, rain starts pouring down, mist appears and colorful light fills the room. Of course, a Strauss music video isn’t complete without a series of intense headbanging and glorious hair flips.
According to a recent interview with KNAC, Strauss explained that Controlled Chaos was her chance to step into the spotlight and show the world what she’s got. “I wanted to make an instrumental album. I guess I could have made an album with singing on it, but that wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted to make a record where the songs spoke to you through my playing,” she said. “I think I achieved just that. I’m really proud of this album. I really wanted this album to showcase what I can do and that is play guitar.”
