There’s a new supergroup on the block: Tronos, whose core trio consists of members from Napalm Death and Megadeth, have just put out their debut single and will deliver a full-length in April.
Formed by Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury and his longtime collaborator and producer Russ Russell, Tronos is rounded out by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren. For their first-ever album, Celestial Mechanics, they also enlisted Voivod vocalist Denis “Snake” Bélanger and Faith No More bassist Billy Gould, among other guests. The ten-track LP includes the advance single “Birth Womb” and a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Johnny Blade.”
“[‘Birth Womb’] talks about sacrifice, betrayal of emotion and the process of feeling temporary defeat,” Tronos commented. “But in experiencing these feelings you realize that you can be a stronger person for the experience, the knowledge that maybe you are not unique and we are all dealing with our personal trials on a day-to-day basis.”
Celestial Mechanics is out on April 12 via Century Media. Hear “Birth Womb” below:
