Metallica give A-Ha’s “Take on Me” a heavy metal makeover

And it’s weird in all the right ways.

Ska acts, boybands and even DJs—almost everyone’s put their spin on A-Ha’s timeless ’80s classic, “Take on Me.” Well, you can now add “heavy metal icons” to the list.

At a concert in Norway last week, Metallica—or at least just Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo—have taken the track, shaken its synth pop bones and given it a heavy metal spin. It’s not the best version of the tune by a long shot, but there’s something heartwarming about watching the metal legends poke a little fun at themselves.
