Blackwater Holylight have dropped “Death Realms,” the second single from their forthcoming sophomore album Veils of Winter.
The track is a euphoric blend of shoegaze and psychedelic rock. Fuzzy guitars churn and collide over frontwoman Allison Farris’ breathy vocals, as mellow piano notes and a driving bass rhythm propel the song.
According to Farris, the band had “extremely equal parts in writing and producing” for the album, and weren’t able to pigeonhole the record because of how collaborative the creative process was. “It’s heavy, psychedelic, pop, shoegaze, doom, grunge, melodic and more. The whole process was extremely organic and natural for us, we were just being ourselves,” she added.
“Death Realms” is Blackwater Holylight’s latest release, following the August single “Motorcycle.” Both tracks are featured on the forthcoming album Veils of Winter, due out October 11 via RidingEasy Records.
