Metalcore band Killswitch Engage have shared an intimate video for their latest single, “I am Broken Too.”
The video follows the struggles of a man dealing with the loss of his pregnant partner. The newly widowed man turns to alcohol, drugs and sex to “feel alive again,” before finally reaching out to a suicide prevention hotline to get him through the pain.
The band are donating part of the profits from “I am Broken Too” to the Chicago-based initiative Hope for the Day, which works on suicide prevention through music and art.
“The video is a reflection of real-life events that loved ones have gone through,” frontman Jesse Leach said in a press release. “It was a perfect way for me to write a song that isn’t just an anthem, but can raise awareness and connect with the listener and make people feel less alone in this world if they’re dealing with mental health issues.”
“I am Broken Too” is the latest track from their forthcoming album, Atonement, due out August 16. Watch their new video here:
