In Flames have released two new songs taken from their forthcoming album, I, the Mask.
“Don’t need your sympathy, I am above,” vocalist Anders Fridén spits on “I am Above,” which has also gotten a music video starring Martin Wallström, whom you might recognize from the television series Mr Robot. The other track, “(This is Our) House,” is a defiant, gang vocals-heavy statement of perseverance practically tailor-made for live shows.
I, the Mask is In Flames’ 13th studio album, and like their previous full-length Battles, was produced by Howard Benson. In a statement, Fridén dedicated the record to their fans: “This album is really a special one to us. Since our last record, Battles, we’ve established our own annual festival in Sweden and have been touring non-stop worldwide, creating an even stronger bond with our fans.
“You could say it was a big part of our inspiration for this album. It’s been such a long journey that just keeps going and growing. We feel extremely thankful for that, and for the support that makes it possible.”
