Hear new Mastodon, Lamb of God songs on ‘Bill & Ted 3’ soundtrack

The film’s fictional band Wyld Stallyns also appear.

The anticipated film Bill & Ted Face the Music—starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters—and its soundtrack, featuring new songs by Mastodon and Lamb of God, have arrived.

The third installment in the Bill & Ted series, which began in 1989 with Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and continued in 1991 with Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, reunites Reeves and Winters as stoner buddies and bandmates in Wyld Stallyns.

The fictional band contributed two songs to the soundtrack: “Face the Music,” which features Animals as Leaders and jazz muso Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, and the grandly titled “That Which Binds Us Through Time: The Chemical, Physical and Biological Nature of Love; an Exploration of The Meaning of Meaning, Part 1.”

Metalheads will also be happy to know that Mastodon and Lamb of God have contributed new or previously unheard material: the songs “Rufus Lives” and “The Death of Us,” respectively. Weezer, FIDLAR and Cold War Kids also appear.

In related news, last month Mastodon released the song “Fallen Torches” from an upcoming rarities album in celebration of their 20th anniversary. In June, June Lamb of God released their self-titled album—their first without founding drummer Chris Adler.
