The Dillinger Escape Plan’s prolific ex-vocalist Greg Puciato has released a video for his recent solo single, “Do You Need Me to Remind You?”.
On the new track, the dynamic musician gives a heavier, eviscerating take on the classic heavy metal sound established by Black Sabbath. The accompanying black-and-white music video locks Puciato in a cage to belt the track, mixing in warehouse footage of the singer performing with drummer Chris Hornbrook.
“Do You Need Me to Remind You?” is the latest installment in a run of advance tracks lifted from Puciato’s upcoming solo album Child Soldier: Creator of God, following “Fire for Water” and “Deep Set” which arrived in March and May, respectively.
In a statement, Puciato explained the genesis of the solo record: “I’d been writing for so many different projects, Dillinger, then The Black Queen, and Killer Be Killed… and I just kept on writing. It felt as if I had more to say, but nothing that necessarily filled the script of those bands, so I ended up with something that I found to be intensely personal and super satisfying, but also confusing as far as what to do with it. When I realized that it was a solo release, it was sort of an ‘oh that’s interesting’ moment, both terrifying and exciting at once.”
Puciato entered the studio shortly after this revelation, recording all instruments aside from the drums himself throughout 2019 and the start of this year. Drummers who played on the record are Ben Koller, Chris Pennie and Chris Hornbrook.
Child Soldier: Creator of God will be released on October 23 via Federal Prisoner. Watch the clip for “Do You Need Me to Remind You?” here:
