Dream Theater are gearing up for their comeback: The prog-metal stalwarts have revealed their next record is titled Distance Over Time and will be out February 22.
It’s the follow up to 2016’s The Astonishing, released on Inside Out Music, and promises to be a return to the band’s roots following the muted response to the previous LP.
Distance Over Time, which will be their 14th studio album, was produced by guitarist and founding member John Petrucci. His aim when recording “was to try and create the best-sounding Dream Theater record we’ve ever made so that listeners can just be enveloped in the music,” he said in a statement.
Dream Theater will also be embarking on a spring tour, which also coincides with the 20th anniversary of their fifth album, Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes from a Memory. It begins in San Diego in mid-March, with further 2019 dates to be added. You can find the full list of tour dates via the band’s website.
